As anyone knows, nothing puts you in the mood for snacking like a road trip! That being said, it’s possible we overbought…

Our adventure is actually beginning with a week at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland (holla), with Brian’s family. Because of Bay Bridge issues, we’re going to go north through Baltimore and down through Delaware to get there today, so I kind of want today to “count” as part of the greater trip.

After our week in Ocean City, we’ll make a quick overnight stop at home in Washington, D.C., so I can teach a cooking class next Sunday; our plan is to leave directly from said class and head… northish. And westish. We’ve made only tentative plans for this trip so we can enjoy the freedom of being itinerary-less and take our time in each place. We did have a lot of fun making this map, though:

Basically, we just both started putting pins everywhere we thought we might like to go, and we kind of fleshed out what a pseudo-itinerary might be from there. We’re most likely going to head up to South Dakota first (with a possible trip through Michigan and/or Wisconsin), then come through Wyoming and Idaho, go to California to touch the Pacific before we head back east through Utah and Colorado.

We are very excited. My friend Doug put it best in a recent email: “Adventures like this are the raw material for lifetime memories.” Please stay tuned to this blog to share in these memories with us!
