Different than the weirdness of the Alamo, though. I especially found the Alamo gift shop to be disconcerting... it is one thing to build a lovely garden and memorial at the site of a battlefield, but then to sell cute little fingerpuppets of the people who killed each other, alongside barbeque sauce commemorating the event... creepy.
